Five or so minutes left in the 4th quarter of game 4. 6 er's trailing, but the game was long from over

He initiates a substitution, Horford for Embiid. Embiid, waves Big Al off, Brown lets him stay in the game.

Embiid was gassed, he was lazy with the ball, he was making bad decisions on offense, he should have sat for a breather. Embiid finished the game, never came out. Evidently Embiid thinks he's a one man team, and Brown let him

Brown was making the right move, but he backed down and let his tired center run the team

After watching the finish of that game, I knew Brown was getting fired

PS: Big Al, what have you done? You coulda been still playing, and a key component of a championship contender. You leave the C's and Stevens for Philly and Brown? Wat up?

Jimmy Butler knew better

Just a microcosm of what's been wrong with the NBA for years. The star players basically run the show. They have more power than many head coaches.

Only the strong organizations with strong leadership from the top down are the exception. But even then, a player can force his way out. See the situation in San Antonio with Leonard a few years ago.

He was going to be let go unless they made the finals. Been there too long and like your example key players tune him out. Until ownership stops coddling Embiid he will stay out of shape. The contracts given to Harris and a washed Horford are bad all around. Celtics had no intention of paying Al the money and years Philly gave him. Reddick should have been re signed. Butler obviously wanted out and into a situation where being out of shape and not focused on getting better wasn’t going to fly.

If Philly doesn’t think they can get Embiid to commit to being in shape they need to really listen to offers for him. Surround Simmons with shooters.

dr love- NBA has been run by stars since bird and Magic got the league real tv contract money.

Embid will do whatever he wants. He's the most powerful person in the organization and he knows it. If Philly doesn't like it? Or if Embid doesn't like the way Philly treats him? He will force his way out. We've seen this movie before and we will see it again with either him or other star players who are entitled.

The only thing that puts a stop to this garbage is if organizations say FU to the top stars in the league who think they run shit. Don't trade someone who is trying to force his way out. Make him rot as the 12th man on your roster until his contract runs out.

You guys are wrong about the Embiid situation. It had nothing to do with being gassed or being lazy. He simply had picked up his 5th foul.

Yep!

Though to have Butler tell it, he doesn't dislike Simmons, but definitely wasn't a Brown fan, along with many of the current players.

I remember when Hordford opted out of his last year in Boston for around 32 million and i found that so strange like who is going to pay him more. He is a very solid player but he is older and in no way shape or form a superstar. Enter Philly. 4 years 108 million. Are you serious!

I mean hell, if you're going to go that dumb route might as well have offered that deal to Brook Lopez. 108 million would have definitely lured him from Milwaukee and he would have been a better fit than Al. I mean both are stupid but one is less stupid.

butler can say what he wants but it was obvious he thought ben was an overrated bitch. the hordford signing was a joke and quite frankly so was tobias. If you truly believe embiid and simmons are super stars then you go sign legit shooters to space the floor and play D. not max out 2 mid range shooting players. DID I MENTION I HATE THIS TEAM.

Everyone was praising those deadline signings last season. I thought it was beyond stupid unless they can pull off a championship that season. They did come somewhat close.

Harris was already at his ceiling a good player, a #3 on a contending team, but you have to pay him like he is a superstar. Butler is a fringe superstar but also can't shoot(unless you compare him to Simmons) and needs the ball in his hands, also like Simmons. You aren't and shouldn't be giving the team to the guy you just brought in over your budding superstar. They at first didn't as they kept the ball in Simmons hands in the regular season and they for whatever reason switched it to Butler in the play-offs. This is where all the friction started.(I can't blame either guy they both have the skills and pedigree to be the man). This is why you don't bring in Butler and continue to overlap your talent.

You stand pat last year. Re-sign JJ Reddick. Bring in Kyle Korver for $10. Make a trade with the kings for Bogdan Bogdanovic. Instead of signing Horford, heck you could have went after Chris Paul or Mike Conley.

But everything got jammed up after the Harris and Butler moves.

Miami was the perfection situation for him along with what that team wants to accomplish right now.

He is the best player on that team and wasn't stepping on toes to get there. Second best player is Bam, and they obviously don't overlap each other.

Bam has been a BEAST

Both Butler and Bam should make the 3rd team all NBA this season
